Assignment: Capstone project

A investigar, hablar y escribir: “UN PAÍS HISPANO PARLANTE”

As you finish the semester and have learned various vocabulary and grammatical structures, you are ready now to put it all together in a final oral presentation and short essay following the steps (pasos) below. This final project may be done in groups or individually depending on your instructor.

Primer paso:

Selecciona un país de habla hispana del cual quieres saber y conocer mucho más.

Segundo paso:

Usa el mapa conceptual abajo para guiar los temas que vas a investigar. No tienes que investigar todos los temas, selecciona uno, dos o tres que quieras investigar (you do not have to research all the topics, select one, two or three that you want to research).

You are finishing first semester Spanish, please keep it simple, at your level, DO NOT TRY TO TRANSLATE COMPLEX INFORMATION FROM A WEB SITE.

Tercer paso:

Imprime o copia el mapa conceptual en papel y toma apuntes simples, NO ORACIONES COMPLETAS NI PÁRRAFOS, solo palabras y frases para estimular tu producción del habla coherente y espontánea. (Written notes on your conceptual map MUST BE SIMPLE, not complete sentences or paragraphs, just keywords and phrases that would trigger your brain to construct sentences in a coherent spontaneous speech.)

Cuarto paso:

Crea (create) diapositivas (slides) en Power Point, máximo 5, la última con referencias de investigación (last one with URLs of researched webpages). Incluye imágenes y algunas palabras solo para identificar las fotos (some labels that identify the pictures). No te olvides de incluir tu nombre (do not forget to include your name).

Quinto paso:

Usa una herramienta digital de audio o video (digital audio/video tool) para grabar tu voz (voice record) haciendo una descripción del país hispanoparlante escogido y explicar las fotos. La grabación (recording) debe ser de 3 minutos mínimo y 5 minutos máximo. (You may ask the technology department for help on the tool used).

NO LEAS, HABLA ESPONTÁNEAMENTE A TU NIVEL DE FLUIDEZ (DO NOT READ, TALK SPONTANEOUSLY AT YOUR PROFICIENCY LEVEL)

Sexto paso:

Comparte (share) la grabación con tu profesor y compañeros.

Septimo paso, A ESCRIBIR:

Escribe un ensayo corto, con los párrafos que necesites para incluir los diferentes temas investigados. Las oraciones deben ser tuyas (sentences must be your own), simples y usando todo lo aprendido (simple and using all you have learned). Pásala a tu instructor (hand in to your instructor) y que tengas un buen descanso de semestre, no vemos en el segundo nivel de español! (Have a great semester break and see you in the second-level Spanish course!)
