“Sophia,” which is a pseudonym to protect her identity, was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She grew up in the village of Cua, Venezuela and moved at the age of 14 to Caracas to attend high school. She moved to the United States in 2016 and now lives with her husband and dog in Silver Spring, Maryland. She speaks Spanish and English. Sophia has been a student at MC since the Fall of 2018. Today she is studying nursing at MC and works as a server in a restaurant. Sophia hopes to work as a physical therapist, which was her profession in her home country. In her spare time, she enjoys running and cooking.
