  • Recognize and conjugate present tense verbs in the subjunctive

Gramática:

All the verb tenses that you have reviewed and practiced so far have been in the indicative mood, which we have used to ask questions, talk about facts, communicate information or make statements that are considered to be true.

The indicative mood has ten different tenses and in this class you have covered three.

Review the examples below.

In this unit you will learn about the subjunctive mood and how the subjunctive is used to express will and influence, which are just two uses among the many associated with this mood.

While the subjunctive has 4 different tenses, we will only study the present tense.   To form the present subjunctive start with the verb in the infinitive form.  Then, conjugate the verb in the first person singular, or yo form of the present indicative.  Next, simply drop the -o ending of the yo form, and finally add a set of fixed endings.  Let’s see this process in four easy steps.

The following table shows the whole conjugation of the present subjunctive of three regular verbs.
