What is a Scribe?

Scribe is a Chrome extension that allows you to automatically create step-by-step guides for any process by recording your screen and typing text. This can be a great tool for creating educational materials, such as tutorials, how-to guides, and training manuals.

The AI-driven capabilities of Scribe automatically record a process by documenting the steps that capture your screen. Once you are finished, you can stop the recording, and Scribe will generate a step-by-step guide with screenshots and text.

Follow these steps to get started:

  • Create a free account on their website:

  • Download and install the Scribe Recorder Chrome extension.

  • Press Capture a Scribe.

  • Capture a new browser tab or select one that is already open.
    Note: To capture a Scribe from your desktop, an upgrade to the Pro version will be necessary.

  • Normally, step through your process. When done, click the green checkmark to complete the capture.

  • Scribe will automatically create a step-by-step guide with screenshots and text.

  • With the Pro features, you can unlock advanced capabilities for a monthly price. This plan is great for those who need to capture desktop and mobile-based processes, redact sensitive info, or add branding and customization.

  • The Basic plan is free and allows you to customize your guide by adding text and editing screenshots. When ready, you can share your Scribe with a link or embedded code.
