Technology Integration Microcredential Badge Program

This ONLINE professional development microcredential program is designed to empower faculty members to integrate technology seamlessly into their teaching practices using the TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) framework and the SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition) model.

The program includes five sessions where participants will explore the theoretical foundations and practical applications, enabling them to enhance their teaching and earn a Technology Integration Badge. Participants will be expected to attend all sessions and individual consultations as they prepare for their final project at the last session, demonstrating their course content in alignment with the TPACK and SAMR models.

Program Schedule

• February 16:  An Orientation and Overview of the Microcredential in Technology Integration, 1-3:30 p.m.
• March 1: Integrating Technology in the Classroom with SAMR and TPACK, 1-3:30 p.m.
• March 5-26: Social Annotation in the Age of AI, asynchronous training offered by Hypothesis Academy
• April 5: Innovating Pedagogy: Integrating Tools for Classroom Success, 1-3:30 p.m.* Between Sessions 4 and 5, 30-minute individual appointments will be held.
• May 3:  Project Presentations, 1-3:30 p.m.

Outcomes:

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

• Gain a deep understanding of the TPACK framework. – Session 1
• Become familiar with the SAMR model, understanding its four levels (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition) and their implications for technology integration. Session 2
• Analyze how Hypothesis social annotation can be used in teaching and learning as a response to artificial intelligence’s emerging role in education. – Session 3
• Integrate technology in their teaching to include social annotation, videos, blogs, and more. – Session 4
• Assess existing teaching practices through the lenses of TPACK and SAMR, identifying areas for improvement. – Consultation Identify the connections between TPACK and SAMR and how they work together to enhance technology integration in their final project. – Session 5
