Throughout this series of six thematically linked virtual workshops, participants will explore how Critical Race Theory impacts teaching and learning in the MC classroom. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend one or all sessions. See below or here for additional information about each session.

Exploring Critical Race Theory: An Introduction

Friday, September 23, 2022, 10:00-11:00 am.

The discussion will focus on Critical Race Theory (CRT) misconceptions and guide a brainstorming session about how CRT relates to teaching in the MC classroom.

Exploring Critical Race Theory: Five Approaches to Teaching for the Diverse Classroom

Thursday, October 27, 2022, 1:00-2:00 pm.

After a short introduction, with an overview of different approaches to teaching in a diverse classroom, we will discuss how these approaches relate to CRT and what each approach would look like in the MC classroom.

Exploring Critical Race Theory: Designing Lessons/Modules and Combining Curriculum and Instruction with Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

Monday, November 21, 2:00-3:00 pm.

After an introduction with a summary of steps to design course content, participants will brainstorm and discuss how a CRT focus informs teaching for meaningful and successful learning for all but especially for underrepresented students.
