Drafting Position Papers on SDGs

Introduction
You are a part of a global effort to increase access to education and empower students through “open pedagogy.” Open pedagogy is a “free access” educational practice that places you – the student – at the center of your own learning process in a more engaging, collaborative learning environment. The ultimate purpose of this effort is to achieve greater social justice in our community in which the work can be freely shared with the broader community. This is a renewable assignment that is designed to enable you to become an agent of change in your community through the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For this work, you will integrate the disciplines of International Business Management; International Business Management to achieve SDG #8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Target 8.8: Protect labor rights and promote safe and secure working environments of all workers, including migrant workers, particularly women migrants, and those in precarious employment.
Learning Objectives
- Identify key issues related to SDGs in the context of business and international relations.
- Analyze the implications of SDGs for various stakeholders.
- Evaluate different perspectives on SDG implementation.
- Create well-researched and structured position papers on SDG-related topics.
Purpose/Rationale
By drafting position papers on SDGs, students will enhance their understanding of sustainable development goals and their implications for business and international relations.
Instructions
- Divide into groups of 3-4 students.
- Select an SDG topic relevant to business and international relations.
- Conduct thorough research on the chosen topic.
- Analyze different stakeholder perspectives.
- Develop a clear position on the topic.
- Write a comprehensive position paper.
- Present findings to the class.
Format Requirements
The format of the position paper should follow standard academic writing guidelines. Include proper citations and a bibliography.
