Observing Advertisement as Interdisciplinary Project

Introduction
You are a part of a global effort to increase access to education and empower students through “open pedagogy.” Open pedagogy is a “free access” educational practice that places you – the student – at the center of your own learning process in a more engaging, collaborative learning environment. The ultimate purpose of this effort is to achieve greater social justice in our community in which the work can be freely shared with the broader community. This is a renewable assignment that is designed to enable you to become an agent of change in your community through the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For this work, you will integrate the disciplines of Linguistics; Information Systems to achieve SDG #9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. Target 9.1: Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all. Target 9.2: Promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and, by 2030, significantly raise industry’s share of employment and gross domestic product, in line with national circumstances, and double its share in least developed countries.

Instructions
- Analyze a series of advertisements related to SDG 9 and SDG 11
- Identify the interdisciplinary aspects of each advertisement
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the advertisements in promoting innovation and sustainability
- Propose improvements or alternative approaches to the advertisements
- Produce a written report summarizing findings and recommendations
