Introduction

MATH 117 is an introductory noncalculus statistics course to serve a variety of students who need a working knowledge of statistics. Descriptive analysis and treatment of data, probability and probability distributions, statistical inferences, linear regression and correlations, chi-square, and some nonparametric statistics are covered in the course. Preexisting statistical computer programs may be used for some applications.

PRE- or COREQUISITE(S): Appropriate score on mathematics assessment test, a grade of C or better in MATH 050 or MATH 092, or concurrent enrollment in MATH 017, or consent of department.

Assessment Level(s): ENGL 101/ENGL 011 or AELW 940/ELAI 990, READ 120 or AELR 930/ELAR 980.
