Learning Objectives

Using PowerPoint or video, explain the position of your assigned country’s government on a military/security issue relevant to the oversight of the UN Security Council. 

Purpose/Rationale

This will provide concise analysis and critical thinking that will be useful in future employment in government spheres. 

Instructions

Delegates should write an essay identifying the issue in international peace and security that is most important to their country and promote a specific, detailed solution. This essay should cite at least 1 source from the country’s government, 1 source from the country’s media, and 1 source from theoretical works in political science. Wikipedia is not acceptable for this project. In place of a memo/paper format, students may create a video or a PowerPoint presentation detailing the policy position of their assigned country. Experiential learning should be in evidence through viewing actual footage from your country’s embassy. 

Format Requirements

2-3 page single-space essay or 7-10 PowerPoint slides or a 10-12 minute video.

Rubric/Criteria

The grade on this first assignment will constitute 5% of the overall course grade. Appropriate sources as detailed above will count for up to 10 points of this assignment. Up to 10 points will be assigned based on the use of specific detailed policy solutions. Up to 5 points will be assigned based on attention to representing the assigned country’s perspective.
