Instructions
Prepare and post this assignment on the Discussion Board to share with your classmates and team on or before 11:59 p.m. on the identified date. Remember the pandemic, 2020, the paradigm has shifted! Teachers are expected to teach and engage learners in a virtual world. Teachers always have to be flexible, transitioning with ease to teach in a variety of platforms recognizing the needs of their learners. Seasoned teachers and novice teachers must collaborate to identify the best approaches to meet the needs of diverse learners in the classroom which requires teachers in a virtual world to stay abreast of the latest technology and applications. - Learners will be assigned to a team and a component of literacy (phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, comprehension or fluency). In teams of four (4),
- Learners will be assigned a component of literacy to present to the whole class on the discussion board using PowerPoint with voice, a recorded zoom link, or create a YouTube video. Each member of the team must contribute a book from their theme that supports the development of the assigned component of literacy.
- Learners will share their theme, their digital library, and their chosen books with their team.
- Learners are encouraged to think about how their digital/ebooks can be used to develop the assigned component of literacy.
Based on the chapter readings and the research, each team will identify the definition of the component of literacy, identify why this information is important, and four (4) strategies of how to teach the component of literacy using the books that they have identified. Teams will plan interactive age and grade appropriate lessons that can provide learners with numerous opportunities to become avid readers. For your presentation with teams, let’s discuss the books your team must include in the presentation. Your team’s presentation must include four digital or ebooks. After sharing their findings, teams will prepare a PowerPoint with voice, a recorded zoom presentation link or a YouTube presentation in which each team member will present one book, one strategy, and one rationale explaining the relevancy of the information.

Format Requirements
Getting started for this assignment:
- Identify a digital library website
- Write a brief paragraph describing the features of this digital library site,
- Share the link and post your findings on the discussion board. This will allow your classmates to visit the site based on your recommendation.
- Choose three ebooks from the digital library website that you will use in your digital library in in your virtual classroom assignment (Appendix **).
- Choose one book to share with your team for your team’s presentation.
For your presentation with teams, let’s discuss the books your team must include in the presentation. Your team’s presentation must include four digital or ebooks. Each member must contribute one book from their theme. Your team’s presentation must include at least one narrative, one expository or informational text, and one multicultural book. As teachers, we must offer learners numerous opportunities to learn in a literacy rich environment with numerous choices. Choose one multicultural book for a YouTube video or zoom recorded book presentation (4-7 minutes) and written submission (1 ½-2 pages). In this assignment, each team is required to create a PowerPoint with voice, recorded zoom, or YouTube video presentation of books to include a narrative, expository or information text, and a multicultural children’s book that can be used to address the assigned component of literacy as discussed in class. Yes, this is a video inside of your video presentation! The difference is that in this video assignment, you are the teacher, and we are your diverse learners who also may have exceptionalities. (As a teacher, this video could be placed in one of your centers for reinforcement). Please choose a specific grade
- Identify the component of literacy and the standard from the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards
- Give a synopsis of the book and read a passage.
- Reflect on what considerations must be taken for English language learners or learners with disabilities.

Now this is an opportunity for cooperative learning on the discussion board, let’s explore, click on the links, and respond to your classmates’ postings! After posting your team’s assignment, take some time to review the postings of the other teams. Each member of the class will view the team presentations, reflect, and respond to their post on the discussion board answering the following:
