30 Quantitative Determination of Metals Part C. Create Educational Material
Fotis Nifiatis
Learning Objectives
The students will learn to communicate science. Course Objective: (Technical Writing) HIP activity: Collaborative Projects Digital tool: The students will have to use PowerPoint for their presentation and prepare a YouTube video outlining their project.
Purpose/Rationale
Instructions
Each group will have to write a handout to outline the research project, that should include:
- Introduction (Explain the purpose, chemical reactions, and theoretical principles of instrumentation used)
- Procedure (detailed procedure that can be used by future students in our lab)
- Datasheet (tables for future students to summarize their data)
- Calculations (provide an example of all required calculations in this experiment)
Prepare a PowerPoint presentation to present in class. Prepare a video on your project for future students who may need to perform the experiment in our labs.
Format Requirements
Lab handout:
- Introduction – Keep it short and to the point.
- Procedure – It should be very detailed.
- Calculations – They should be detailed.
- PowerPoint: it should be well-organized, and short (up to 15 min). Includes charts, graphs, and pictures when necessary.
- Video: It should be short (no more than 15 min), high quality, well-edited, and understandable. You may get feedback from a friend with a basic chemistry understanding.
