47 Interpersonal Theatre Assignment: Actor Interview

Eman Shurbaji

Cohort 2023

Learning Objectives

Course Objective: Recognize the components of the communication process and the types of communication in which human beings engage (one-on-one, group and public speaking). Collaborative experience: an actor from the theatre production will visit the classroom and discuss the production. The actor will be cited as a source in the paper in light of one communication studies concept. The actor will visit the class prior to the class attending the production, and students will ask questions about the plot, set, challenges, and character roles.

Purpose/Rationale

Each semester, there are new productions at the college, so we’ll stay in touch with the Theatre department, and create the assignment.

Instructions

Students will write out an Interpersonal Theatre Assignment, including a multimedia component, interview, and paper.

Format Requirements

2–4-page paper; 2 sources (one of which is the interview with a production actor); 3 communication studies discussed-one as a diagram based on the play; another as a reelection of an actor’s perspective; one based on the actual performance.

Rubric/Criteria

A 100-point rubric will be used to assess the following: 2 sources are included; minimum page count; grammatically succinct.
