Learning Objectives
Describe effective verbal, nonverbal, and listening skills for working in multi-cultural groups. In teams, students will create online escape rooms for the other teams in the class to complete. Escape rooms require participants to use effective verbal, nonverbal, and listening skills for working in multi-cultural groups. Each escape room must also include challenges that require participants to use their knowledge of key terms and concepts from one of the chapters in the textbook, an OER.
Purpose/Rationale
Instructions
- Create teams of students (ideally 4 or 5 students per team). Note that students will stay in the same team if they completed Part 1.
- Each team will create online escape rooms for the other teams in the class to complete. Escape rooms must require participants to use effective verbal, nonverbal, and listening skills for working in multi-cultural groups.
- Each escape room must also include challenges that require participants to use their knowledge of key terms and concepts from one of the chapters in the textbook, an OER.
- Each team will submit a final draft of their escape room to the professor for feedback before submitting the final version.
Format Requirements
The online escape room may be created using any platform that students can access for free. Each escape room must include at least 6 challenges and should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
Rubric/Criteria
This assignment is part of a three-part scaffolded group project assignment worth 15% of the total course grade. Each part is worth 5% of the 15%. Through their escape room, teams must demonstrate that they met the course learning objective: Describe effective verbal, nonverbal, and listening skills for working in multi-cultural groups. Assignments must also meet the standard requirements listed in the syllabus: There must not be any SafeAssign issues. Points will be deducted for not following the instructions correctly (review the assignment handout for requirements) and for content, organizational, spelling, grammatical, MLA, formatting (including spacing), English language, and other errors.
