Learning Objectives

Goal: Guide students through a reflection of their academic use of Chat GPT as a writing tool. 

Purpose/Rationale

Students gain valuable digital literacy skills and insights into their future academic writing. 

Instructions

  • Reflect with an experienced writer Students will utilize WRLC tutors to discuss their writing assignment, the professor’s comments, the Chat GPT generated intro / conclusion, and their reflection.
  • Students share their insights as a class, students will design interview questions. Then students will record their interview using YuJa. The video interviews will be submitted via a discussion board. They will comment on at least two student interviews.
  • Students complete the post-unit survey. This survey is to gauge students’ understanding / experience with Chat GPT.

Format Requirements

Materials: graded original composition with the professor’s feedback / comments, the Chat GPT generated intro / conclusion, WRLC (Writing, Reading, and Language Center) tutoring 

Rubric/Criteria

Tutoring appointment is pass / no pass; the video reflection is based on their critical thinking and oral communication skills
