Course Objective: Recognize the components of the communication process and the types of communication in which human beings engage (one-on-one, group and public speaking). Collaborative Project and Capstone Project.
Purpose/Rationale
Instructions
This is part of a greater Interpersonal Theatre Assignment, wherein students watch a Montgomery College theatre production with the class and then write out a 2–4-page paper describing 3 communication studies concepts, and how they relate to the production. One of the concepts is to be included in the paper as a diagram/drawing; one is to be discussed in light of an actor’s visit to the classroom; the last is to be discussed in light of the actual theatre performance. Students will write at least 2 pages describing at least 2 Communication Studies concepts that relate to the performance. The third concept will be drowned out as a diagram.
Format Requirements
2-4 pages, including a multimedia component, and citing a student actor as a source.
Rubric/Criteria
100 points: 2–4-page paper; 2 sources (one of which is the interview with a production actor); 3 communication studies discussed-one as a diagram based on the play; another as a reelection of an actor’s perspective (citing the actor); one based on the actual performance.
